Gary Kremen Elected to Chair ASACP Advisory Council

SAN FRANCISCO — Sex.com founder Gary Kremen has been elected to chair the advisory council for Adult Sites Against Child Pornography where he previously served as a founding sponsor.

Kremen is the president and CEO of San Francisco-based Grant Media LLC, which operates pay-per-click search engines Sex.Com and GalaxySearch.com.

ASACP's advisory council was formed in 2002 and meets on a quarterly basis to address the more pressing needs the organization faces.

Kremen in his new capacity will be more closely on hand to act as ASACP's "point person" and carry more of the responsibility for the direction of the council, according to Joan Irvine, executive director for ASACP.

The position will last for the duration of ASACP's next fiscal quarter, from July 1 through Sept. 30.

In addition to chairing the council, Kremen also will start an endowment for ASACP for an undisclosed amount of money to support the organization and its efforts to help the adult industry rid itself of child pornography affiliations.

"ASACP has made an important contribution to battling one of the Internet’s worst enemies – child pornography,” Kremen said. “We need to ensure that ASACP has the foundation to continue making such a strong impact and I am glad I can help make that happen.”

Irvine told XBiz that the advisory council is currently in the process of defining how they want to set up the Kremen endowment, but that it will most likely be used to buy equipment and cover other operating expenses.

Among many of his added functions for ASACP, Kremen will help set the goals and agenda for the next council's meeting, in addition to making his professional advice more readily available.

"I am looking forward to working closer with Gary considering everything he has done," Irvine told XBiz. "He knows a lot about business and I know that both myself and ASACP will benefit from having him mentor us more closely."
